Everton Vs Manchester United: How The Players Fared

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

It’s the 14th premier league game played this season, and it is another draw for Manchester United against Everton at the Goodison Park.

In the 41st minute, huge Zlatan Ibrahimović put United ahead, taking advantage of Everton’s goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg error. In the second half however, Everton turned the heat on the red devils and were finally rewarded for their continued efforts after being awarded a penalty that was scored by Leighton Baines.

Everton came out stronger after the equaliser, but United managed going home with a point, making it their sixth draw of the season.

Manchester United fans are disappointed once again. This however is how each players fared:

David De Gea – 7

The goalkeeper enjoyed his time in the first half, but things changed in the second half where he was forced to save a number of shots from Everton players. He dived the right way for Leighton Baines’ penalty but couldn’t stop Baines from scoring.

Phil Jones – 7

Worked brilliantly at the heart of the defence for the red devils, where he dealt with a lot of threats.

Ander Herrera – 7

The youngster displayed an outstanding performance with a lot of exciting energy. He was solid in possession, and hit the crossbar after excellently controlling a high ball in the second half.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 6

Took his goal with a brilliant lob over Everton’s goalkeeper. Nevertheless, at some points in time, he dropped too deep, slowing down the game for his team.

Antonio Valencia – 6

The right-back played good football. Though he could have contributed more to his team if he had moved forward more often, he tried his best dealing with the likes of Tom Cleverley and Kevin Mirallas.

Michael Carrick – 6

The classic star displayed a classic performance. He started lots of attacks from the back, and shielded his defenders very well.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6

His movement on and off the ball was excellent. He gave the opponent’s defence lots of headaches, particularly in United’s search for a second goal.

Anthony Martial – 6

The talented youngster was constantly involved in United’s attacks, but actually lacked the quality at times. He also assisted the defence on few occasions.

Marcos Rojo – 5

He got a yellow card in the first half after a high two-footed lunge on Idrissa Gueye. He encountered lots of difficulties going up against Everton’s Lukaku. He almost gave Mirallas a goal in the second half, but De Gea managed to save the situation.

Matteo Darmian –5

We think Darmain looked uncomfortable at left-back. He was beaten for pace too easily at times by the opponents wingers. However, he did manage to stop the crosses coming in from his side.

Paul Pogba – 5

In his attempts to take on the Everton players, he gave the ball away many times. We criticise him for trying to do too much all by himself.

Substitutes

Marouane Fellaini – 1

He was introduced into the game to help tighten the United defence, with the expectation of holding on to their one-goal advantage. But he fouled Idrissa Gueye in the box leading to a penalty for the home team, which Leighton Baines scored from. Mourinho must be regretting his decision of sending him on.

Marcus Rashford – NA

Late substitute. Did not have any impact on the game.
