Here Is Why Everton Sold Lukaku To Manchester United Instead Of Chelsea

It appears the Everton board deliberately ‘destroyed’ Chelsea’s attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer by their decision to favour selling him to Man United instead.

According to speculations, Everton are still displeased with Chelsea’s pursuit of John Stones two summers ago when the Stamford Bridge club made very low bids that were seen as derisory by the Goodison Park club.

Stones eventually ended up joining Man City a year later, and it appears the blues transfer tactics have cost them in negotiating with the toffees once more as Lukaku is now ready to complete a move to Man Utd.

ESPN revealed that Everton still held a grudge against the premier league champions as Everton chairman Kenwright looked instead to let Lukaku go elsewhere even though Chelsea looks like major favourites for his signature for so much of the summer.

It was added that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is so annoyed at missing out on the deal which he personally invested so much in, and the English champions are now in urgent need to sign a new striker as they prepare to lose Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid.

Jose Mourinho sold the Belgium international to Everton back then in 2014 and he has gone on to become one of the best strikers in the premier league. Last season, he scored 24 goals in 26 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side but lose out on the Golden boot award to Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
