According to reports, Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint-Germain are set to battle Manchester City in the race to sign unsettled Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and have contacted his agent to register their intention to sign the forward.
Le Parisien (via Liam Prenderville in the Mirror) reported, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique ‘contacted’ about Sanchez last week, and the Capital City club are ready “to push through a deal” despite the forward’s wage demands.
Despite the Chilean only having a season left on his Arsenal contract, the Emirate club remain “confident” of convincing the forward to stay back at the club, and on Monday, Prenderville reported Bayern Munich pulled out of the race to sign him.
The Ligue 1 runner-up entering the transfer saga could change things, though, as they might be able to either battle City or table tempting offer of their own.
The Chilean’s tremendous ability means he deserves to be playing in the top flight of European football, something Arsenal cannot offer him next season after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
The duo of PSG and City can offer the Chilean realistic league title ambitions and UEFA Champions League football, as well as a mouth-watering contract.
While the Gunners are no doubt desperate to keep the star player, they will surely not want to risk losing the Chilean for nothing next summer.
