During the past transfer window, one of the Liverpool stars heavily linked with a move away from Anfield is German midfielder Emre Can.
Even though a move failed to materialise before the closure of the English transfer window, the player’s contract talks have been dragging on for months now and there are speculations that he could well leave the club in the near future.
Can was linked with Serie A champions Juventus during the window, but recently, there were reports that the premier league duo of Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in him.
Emre is currently having a nice time in his career and he helped his country win the Confederations Cup earlier this summer.
His contract is expiring next summer and he desires to start earning an improved wage whether it be at Liverpool or elsewhere.
The Mirror, however, claimed that talks with the midfielder over a new deal have stalled as he is demanding that a release clause be inserted into the deal.
It was said that Can is trying to avoid the same fate that befell Philippe Coutinho this summer should a bigger offer come for him in the near future.
The Reds managed to keep the samba star at Anfield despite Barcelona’s best efforts to bring him to Camp Nou with much better wages.
And Can wants a release clause to be inserted into the new deal which would offer him an exit route should a bigger club come in for him someday.
