Emre Can Doubtful, 4-1-2-3 Liverpool Starting XI vs. Middlesbrough

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Germany midfielder Emre Can is a doubt for the away clash with Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Wednesday evening after he picked up a knee injury in a training ground incident with Belgian striker Divock Origi.

The former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund manager stated this during his pre-match press conference on Monday morning ahead of the crucial game. He also spoke about their opponents. In his words, Klopp said: “In one moment they [Middlesbrough] are a possession side.
“In another – against Arsenal and City – they are not. They are difficult. But they haven’t collected 500 points, so we have to use our experience from the last few games, try to do better and win.” he added.
On the transfer window, he had the following to say: “The winter transfer market is the most difficult. We are always looking.
“If you watch our bench, very experienced in defence and not offence. If the situation stays like this it is clear we have open eyes.” he further said.
Despite speaking extensively, he refused to be drawn into the Loris Karius goalkeeping controversy in the media as he said: “I’m not interested in creating headlines.”

“No time to write what you want, a few things are obvious, a few things aren’t… working with the goalkeepers and other players, that,s all I care about. It’s never about one player.

“I have nothing to say, only because I can’t say in it so it’s useful for us.” he concluded.
