The Mail’s chief football writer Rob Draper has stated that manager Unai Emery’s decision will play a major role in ensuring contract rebel, Aaron Ramsey is handed a lucrative deal at Arsenal.
Ramsey is running into his last year at the Emirates Stadium without agreeing on a new deal with his employers. He was reported to have walked out on deal talks.
It has been suggested that the player’s action is a protest against the club for not inviting him for a contract talks as it was done in the case of Mesut Ozil last in the January transfer window.
However, Draper stated that Arsenal must learn to improve their negotiation of contracts for its key players including making hard decisions.
He noted Ramsey will be okay with the sum of £200,000 a week-deal but that will be subject to him being the first, two best players in the club.
The football writer, therefore, stated that he doubts if the Spanish manager sees the Welshman in such a category in his team and that is key in what the disagreement in the deal has been.
He affirmed that Ramsey is seen as an important player in the Arsenal team but not worthy of having such a financial benefit yet, knowing that the club has been weighed down with the financial commitment of Mesut Ozil.
