Emery, Wenger ‘clash’ over Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil

Former and present Arsenal managers Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery have made different claims on Mesut Ozil’s international career saga.

The German has made himself unavailable for the national team after the World Cup following their poor outing in Russia.

Ozil claimed to be racially abused by the German football association in addition to being used as a scapegoat for the national team’s poor performance.

In his thought, Wenger said that Ozil is still a major part of the German national team and will be highly needed to help their poor performance, urging German boss Joachim Low to make efforts to convince the player.

The former Gunners manager also affirms that Ozil’s absence from the national team will affect his performance as he will not be as motivated as he ought to be.

But the Spanish manager thinks Wenger is wrong about his claim on Ozil stating that the former Real Madrid player needs the international break to rest a little and freshen up for other challenges ahead.

According to him, international matches are not easy for players to combine with club football especially if they have to play two games before returning back for tough fixtures.

Arsenal will play Leicester City on Monday in a Premier League game.
