Done Deal: Liverpool To Offer Injury Returnee Contract Extension

Alex-oxlade Chamberlain

Premier League title chasers Liverpool have concluded plans to offer midfielder Alex Oxlade-chamberlain a new contract despite the fact that he just returned from a long injury layoff.

According to the Daily Mirror, the England international will sign a new one-year contract extension to his present deal at the club.

His current deal does not run out until the summer of 2022 but the Reds want to offer him an extra year until 2023.

Alex Oxlade-chamberlain has had to endure a lengthy injury layoff since his transfer from fellow Premier League club Arsenal at the start of last season.

Liverpool paid around £35m to secure his signing from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 and he was an important part of the Reds squad until injury struck last year.

Alex Oxlade-chamberlain suffered a serious ankle injury during the first leg of the Reds’ Champions League semifinal first leg meeting with Italian club AS Roma and that injury would rule him out of action for one year.

The former Southampton player made his return from injury on Friday evening during the Premier League clash with basement club Huddersfield Town.

He was a second half substitute for the Reds who thrashed their opponents 5-0 to boost their bid for a first Premier League title.
