It seems Liverpool, like other top EPL clubs, will not be signing a new star before the transfer window closes. Nevertheless, The Reds have agreed new deals with two of their current players.
Few days ago Liverpool sealed a new five year deal with Samba superstar Philippe Coutinho.
And just yesterday, the Merseysiders confirmed that they have secured another five year deal with England international Joe Gomez. The deal will come into effect from July 1, 2017 and his previous contract was worth £10,000-a-week, £520,000-a-year.
The teenage defender signed for the Reds when Brendan Rodgers was still boss in the club after impressive displays in his debut season with Charlton.
He swiftly replaced Moreno to occupy the left back spot, and he impressed as well. Unfortunately a major injury ruined everything for him.
However, he has recently returned for Liverpool and he has featured in 2 FA Cup games against Plymouth. Liverpool boss rated him highly, for he is a versatile player who can play anywhere in the back line.
“I am really excited about this news because of the incredible potential Joe has – and now we know he will be fulfilling it with us at LFC.” the German boss said.
However, since Liverpool at the moment have players like Lovren, Klavan, Matip and Lucas, who are being utilized in the central defense by Klopp, Gomez must work very have so as to become a regular starter at Anfield.
