Exeter City starlet Ethan Ampadu has been amazing at the League Two club and his superb performances caught the attention of top clubs in the English top flight.
The young midfielder made 16 appearances for Exeter City last term pass through successful trials with both Manchester United and Liverpool.
However, in a new development, premier league champions Chelsea won the race for the talented 16-year-old.
It was reported that the Stamford Bridge club will now agree on a compensation fee with the League Two club after the teenager failed to sign a scholarship deal.
It was also added that Ethan’s father, Kwame, is Arsenal’s Under-18s coach, but Chelsea could successfully get him.
Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale, speaking recently about the move, told the club’s official website that everyone at the club fully supports the youngster’s decision to sign for Chelsea. He also noted that Ampadu is one of the long lines of home grown players to graduate from their academy to the first team.
‘He had many options available to him and has decided that Chelsea provides him with the best opportunity to develop to the next step of his career. We wish him the very best of luck.’
