Alexander Lacazette has been heavily linked with joining Arsenal this summer, and the Gunners can now smile again despite missing out on the Champions League next season.
The Emirates club have eventually completed a club-record signing of the talented striker from Lyon for a fee believed to be in the region of £52million.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been on the player’s tail for a number of years and has succeeded in getting him despite that he won’t be playing in the Champions League next season.
The striker who scored 37 goals last season in all competitions for Lyon is understood to have agreed on a five-year deal and becomes the most expensive player in Arsenal’s history.
The 26-year-old has beaten the £42m Arsenal paid to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in 2013.
The Frenchman was also said to be needed by La Liga side Atletico Madrid and would have loved joining his countryman Antoine Griezmann in the club. However, the Madrid club are still suffering a transfer ban and won’t be able to register any new player until next January.
The North London club have brought in former Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer this summer and have been heavily linked with some other stars like Leicester City’s Riad Mahrez.
Arsenal finished fifth in the just concluded premier league season and will be playing in the Europa League next term.
