Croatian defender Domagoj Vida has told Besiktas that he wants to join Liverpool before the end of the summer window, according to reports.
The defender was part of the Croatian national side that impressed at the Russia 2018 World Cup, and has since then been tipped to make a move to Anfield, with reports the centre-back has held informal talks with Liverpool about a summer move and even agreed to personal terms with the club.
Reports in Turkish website Milliyet have it that Vida has now told Besiktas that he wants to leave before the end of the summer transfer window.
Although, it is still unclear whether Liverpool will intensify their efforts to sign Vida this summer, following Jurgen Klopp’s comments about been content with the crop of players in his defensive set-up.
Liverpool defensive frailties has been a major stumbling block, with the likes Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez in the centre-half position.
The report also said Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also considering moves for Vida, who is keen on joining Liverpool instead.
