Premier League Champions Chelsea are set to part ways with Diego Costa, with the Spain international striker reportedly set to rejoin Atletico Madrid for £41million.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte told the forward via text message that he did not have a future at the West London club, but Chelsea have found it hard to sell the 28-year-old.
Diego Costa, who netted 24 goals last campaign, has had his heart set on rejoining Atletico but the Spanish La Liga side’s transfer embargo has complicated the move.
But, as per the Evening Standard, the Spanish club have stepped up their chase of the Brazilian-born striker recently, and are set to offer the Blues a transfer fee of over £40m.
The Striker has remained in his Native land for the past six weeks and has been fined by Chelsea for not returning to the club.
But the former Italy coach has never reconsidered his position and signed Spaniard Alvaro Morata last month as Costa’s replacement.
Marseille and Monaco have shown interest in the big forward, and a transfer to France on loan may happen, for Costa before he can feature for Atletico in 2017.
Atletico midfield maestro Koke, who is also a National team-mate with Costa, hopes the forward secure a move back to Madrid before the summer transfer window closes.
