According to Ray Wilkins, Diego Costa could be charged to court by the London club for “swanning around on a beach” in his hometown in Brazil instead of returning to training.

The Former Chelsea player hit out at the Spaniard for not returning to the club and train while still a Chelsea FC player.

Chelsea have fined the striker £300,000 for not coming back to the club for pre-season training last month.

Ray Wilkins told talkSPORT: “I (Wilkins) can’t quite understand this situation.

“He (Costa) is still a Chelsea player. They (Chelsea) determine where he trains and what he (Costa) does.

“He (Costa) should be back at the training ground (Cobham HQ). He (Costa) is still a Chelsea player.

“Now they (Chelsea) might have to take this (situation) a little bit further and make sure they (Chelsea) get him (Costa) back because they (Chelsea) might need to take this (Situation) to a level of court.”

The Chelsea striker was told via text message by manager Antonio Conte that he was no longer needed at the West London club this season and the 28-year-old striker has responded by remaining in his native land Brazil.

The striker wants a return to his former club Atletico Madrid, but the move is hampered by Athletico’s transfer embargo which means any player signed is not eligible to play until January.
