Despite Exit Rumors Star Midfielder Insists He Still Wants To Play For Manchester United

Despite speculations of an imminent move to the MLS  in January, former German international Bastian Schweinsteiger has insisted that his goal is to play for Manchester United and he looks forward to helping the team.

Bastain Schweinsteiger joined United from Bayern Munich in a deal worth about 15 million pounds and was a regular member of the first team squad under former coach Louis Van Gaal. In his debut season at the club, injuries limited his involvement in the team as he was only able to play 13 premier league matches.

There has been a lot of speculations that the former Bayern Munich midfielder could be leaving Old Trafford in the January transfer window with reports claiming that the 32-year-old has had talks with MLS club Chicago fire.

The German world cup player recently returned to training with the first team after he was originally told by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho he was not part of his plans for the squad and was forced to train with the reserves.

Speaking to Sky Germany in Berlin at an awards ceremony, Schweinsteiger revealed he is focused on Manchester United.

He said “I have a contract until 2018 at Manchester United and my goal is to play for United. I don’t comment on rumours in the media, I don’t judge rumours. My only goal is to play at Old Trafford and I will give all I have in every training session to get a chance. All is going well and I am training with the first team squad. It’s a lot of fun and if the team needs me then I will be there and help them.”
