Dele Alli tells  team-mate not to join Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur star player Dele Alli has warned his Tottenham team-mate Eric Dier about leaving the club and joining title rivals Chelsea.

Eric Dier has become an important player at Tottenham following his move to the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and himself with Dele Alli have grown into close friends at Tottenham.

Dier has filled in at centre-back for coach Pochettino’s side following Jan Vertonghen’s ankle injury and has been performing well above average.

The 23-year-old was however criticsed for his performance in his side’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday, where he was at fault for one of Sadio Mane’s two goals in the game.

However, his England and Tottenham team-mate Dele Alli has defended him, insisting that Dier is still a very young boy, “I think people need to remember that.”

“He is at the perfect place for that because he’s got a support system around him and a manager and a group of players that will take care of him.”

Long before the January transfer window was in sight, Dier was already linked with the duo of Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

It was even claimed by The Times that he was unhappy with his game-time at Tottenham and was worried about how it could impact on his England chances.

But so far this season, he  has made 31 appearances for Spurs this season, and 20-year old Alli has called on the former Everton loanee to reject any thought of a move away to stay at the club.

“You have to worry about young players sometimes in certain places if they can cope with it and will they be looked after as a 20-year-old boy and not just an asset,” he told Sky Sports.

“I think he is very well looked after here and hopefully he will be for a long time.” he noted.

Tottenham are in the process of building a new 61,000 capacity stadium on the site of White Hart Lane worth £750m which is due to open at the start of the 2018/19 season.
