Ex-Chelsea Player Makes England Debut In Group A clash

Declan Rice

England manager Gareth Southgate handed West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice his first cap for the Three Lions during the comprehensive victory over Montenegro in their Group A clash.

Rice marshalled the midfield as England ran riot against Montenegro in Podgorica.

England secured their second victory from two games with a 5-1 away win over Montenegro.

Declan Rice was an unused substitute for England in Friday night’s 5-0 win over Czech Republic in the first game of the Three Lions’ qualifiers for Euro 2020.

The former Chelsea player received his first call-up earlier this month after switching his international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland.

He had played three games for the Republic of Ireland whom he qualified for through his grandparents.

Declan Rice was able to switch international allegiance since he had not played competitive football for the Republic of Ireland.

The players from his former club dominated the game against Montenegro especially Ross Barkley.

The former Everton player scored twice either side of the halftime interval to give England a comeback win over their Euro 2020 opponents.

Michael Keane, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling got the other goals for England against a Montenegro side that took the lead when Marko Vesovic scored in the 17th minute but the hosts were unable to hold on to that advantage.
