Oliver Mintzlaff has revealed that star forward Timo Werner wants to leave German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig at the end of the season.
Mintzlaff is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at RB Leipzig.
In his recent interview monitored by Goal, Oliver Mintzlaff revealed that RB Leipzig have offered Timo Werner a new contract and that the German international would rather not sign a new deal at the club.
He, however, retains hope that they will be able to tempt the player to stay beyond this summer.
According to the RB Leipzig CEO, a return to Champions League football and the arrival of highly rated manager Julian Nagelsmann could prompt him to stay at the club.
Timo Werner has a year left on his present contract with RB Leipzig and they have to sell him this summer if he fails to sign a new contract.
Failure to sell him means they are prepared to lose him for free next summer though the RB Leipzig CEO was quick to point out that the player will be allowed to leave this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
European sides like Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with the petite German international attacker.
