Two Premier League sides namely Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in a summer move for Bayern Munich midfielder James Rodriguez according to widespread reports emanating from the media in Spain.
James Rodriguez is on a two-year loan deal at German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich from Real Madrid at the moment but the Bavarian giants are not willing to make his loan spell a permanent one.
Bayern Munich were said to have paid £11m for the loan deal with the option of making it a permanent transfer for £36m.
The specific report from the stables of Spanish newspaper Marca claimed that both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on him but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to pay £36m for a player that has struggled to impose himself at a big club like Bayern Munich.
Chelsea also have the question of their transfer ban and that has to be cleared before they can sign any player including the aforementioned Rodriguez.
The Blues were slapped with a two-window transfer ban by world football’s governing body FIFA for illegal dealings relating to transfers involving underage footballers.
Chelsea are yet to be given the verdict from their appeal against the FIFA transfer ban
