Finally, Manchester United have officially brought in a replacement for Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Old Trafford club have officially announced the signing of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku for a fee in the region of £75 million from Everton.

The now former Everton striker signs a five-year deal with the red devils off the back of a Premier League campaign in which he scored 25 goals, missing out on the Golden Boot to Spurs forward Harry Kane.

The Belgium international underwent a medical in Los Angeles, were he had been on vacation before now, and will now link up with the rest of Jose Mourinho’s squad who flew to the United States for pre-season tour.

The former Chelsea player initially appeared destined to return to west London after Antonio Conte’s side had been working on a deal for months.

But when Jose Mourinho’s hunt for a new forward to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic was dealt successive blows (Antoine Griezmann refused leaving Atletico Madrid while Real Madrid are making things difficult with Alvaro Morata), all eyes were turned to Lukaku – and it ended up being a success.

After the deal was completed, it was said that the Belgian has always been Jose’s first choice to succeed Zlatan, though it was initially felt his heart was set on a move back to Stamford Bridge.

However, club legend Wayne Rooney is moving back to Goodison Park, and the deal is believed to have opened the door to the possibility of securing Lukaku’s signature.
