Premier League champions Manchester City are closing in on a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of the summer transfer window.
This is according to the publication from Portuguese newspaper A Bola which claimed that a deal for the Portuguese international is nearing completion.
Bruno Fernandes has been attracting the interest of several clubs including West London giants Chelsea but it looks like the Blues will miss out on their transfer target.
The 24-year-old was one of the candidates seen as a possible replacement for former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Spanish international Fabregas left Chelsea for AS Monaco earlier this year but the Blues were unable to sign a replacement for him before the winter transfer window ended.
Chelsea are on course to miss out on Bruno Fernandes with Premier League rivals Manchester City in pole position to sign him this summer.
The aforementioned publication revealed that Manchester City’s director of football Txiri Begiristain will meet with Sporting Lisbon chiefs to discuss a move for the player.
Bruno Fernandes has been in superb form for Sporting Lisbon this term and that has not gone unnoticed with the major clubs on the European football scene.
He has scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists for Sporting Lisbon in the league this season.
