The premier league thrills are back again after the international break, and one of the games that caught the attention of many football lovers is the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield.
Despite the home team dominating in possession and chances, Jose Mourinho managed to pick up a point from the meeting with a 0-0 draw.
The Portuguese boss was however heavily criticised for his negative approach to the game, and the Liverpool crowd gave him some jeers and not-too-pleasant chants.
In premier league history, meetings between Liverpool and Manchester United have ended without a goal just three times – two of which have now come under Mourinho (same thing happened when the two sides met last season)
And obviously, if not for Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, Manchester United would have definitely lost the game at Anfield.
De Gea proved once more that he is the best shot-stopper in the premier league during the encounter.
Last season, his most splendid save for the campaign came during their game against Liverpool at Anfield. And now, during the recent clash at Anfield, he was able to help prevent the ball from passing through to the back of the net despite how disorganised the defence was.
Mid-way through the first half, the Spaniard appeared to defied the law of physics to instantly push out a foot that denied Liverpool from grabbing a goal.
And Manchester United former player Gary Neville, commenting on the keeper’s impressive save, hailed him by saying:
‘If you are going to win the title you need a great goalkeeper – and [Manchester] United have got one [in De Gea]’
