Zappacosta has only played six minutes of top-flight football for the Blues in the new campaign.
The attacking full-back has featured for Chelsea in five games in all competitions this season, providing two assists.
His goal contributions came during the 3-2 win over English Championship side Derby County in their Carabao Cup fourth round clash at Stamford Bridge last month.
