[Photo confirmation] Box-to-box Chelsea midfielder stays at Stamford Bridge to train

Danny Drinkwater

Chelsea summer signing Danny Drinkwater has shown massive dedication to recuperate from his long-term ankle problem that has so far kept the former Leicester City midfielder on the sidelines this League season.

The England international midfielder signed for the reigning Premier League Champions on the summer transfer deadline day but is yet to recover his complete fitness due to a major ankle problem. The midfielder is closing in on his League return and has begun to train much more actively with the first-team squad.

After the Blues well-fought 4-2 victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon, Danny Drinkwater waited behind at the stadium to train with the club’s first-team coaches and some Chelsea’s youngsters who were not involved in Saturday’s Matchday squad.

Chelsea Faithfull’s will be hoping the midfielder will be back very soon to make his Premier League debut for the Blues.

Antonio Conte’s relatively small team is being over-stretched to breaking point with all their recent injury problems, with some club players reportedly blaming it on the Italian’s heavy training routine.

The Italian tactician may see the midweek League Cup clash with Everton as the ideal chance to give the recovering midfielder his first minutes of the League season, with that game followed by Premier league fixtures against AFC Bournemouth and rivals Manchester United either side of an away match against Roma.
