Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is not thinking about his future at Anfield because his prime target is to help Jurgen Klopp win his first silverware as Liverpool manager after five years at Anfield.
The England international has played just 292 minutes of Premier League football this season and many rumor mongers are tipping him to leave Anfield this month before the end of his contract.
However, his lack of game time isn’t giving him any hard feeling as he remains focused and determined to see that the Merseyside club end their trophy drought by the end of the season.
According to the former Chelsea star, it’s impossible to live in the future. So, he’s living in the present and that’s to play his role to ensure the team emerged victorious ahead of Manchester City in the race for the League’s ultimate prize.
While speaking to BBC Radio 1Extra on Thursday, the 29-year-old said he’s fully concerned about the team while his future will be sorted by the end of the campaign.
“I’m staying focused on right now. You’ve got to live in the present, you can never live in the future. I’ve been at Liverpool for a long time and I’m happy too…..We’ve come close before, finals, almost won the Premier League before but we didn’t quite do it.” he said.
As much as it sounds great, Liverpool’s hierarchy might not be pleased to hear that from him because he will become a free agent by the end of the season.
Once that happened, the Reds won’t receive any fee from his sale, hence, they are doing everything to sell him this month in order to avoid losing him as free agent.
West Ham and Celtic are linked with his services, only time will tell if he would be released by Liverpool or not.
