Liverpool have included unsettled forward Daniel Sturridge to their 25-man team for their Premier League Asia Trophy tour to Hong Kong, though a Chinese Super League club is speculated to have shown interest in a move for the Liverpool striker. It looks like Sturridge will now reject the big money move and stay with Jürgen Klopp’s side.
The Mirror report that Super League side Beijing Sinobo Guoan – who are currently managed by Roger Schmidt – was hoping to secure a deal for the Englishman before the Chinese Super League transfer window closes on Friday.
The England international striker reportedly told the club he wasn’t interested in joining them, which put an end to that particular rumour.
There has been speculations about Sturridge leaving Anfield this summer. Notwithstanding recent flurry of big-players flying to China for astronomical fees, the situation doesn’t seem quite right for the Liverpool striker to leave just yet.
The absence of any solid offers for first team striking options – and no, those half-speculations about Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and French Kylian Mbappé don’t count – means that Brazilian Roberto Firmino, Sturridge, and Belgian Divock Origi are still the main options.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp looks to be satisfied with those striking options, and the Reds looks as though they are more intent on reinforcing other departments of the squad.
