A new report from the Mirror claimed that Liverpool’s striker and England star, Daniel Sturridge is set to get a contract extension deal.

Daniel Sturridge’s current contract is expected to expire at the end of this season but the report hinted that he has been able to use his top performance this season to convince Jurgen Klopp that he is an asset to Liverpool.

The 29 years old striker is yet to start in any game for Liverpool but he has played from the bench 9 times with four goals to his name.

As at last season, Daniel Sturridge had struggled to play because of his incessant injuries which affected his football career but this season has seen him at his top form – he came as a substitute to save Liverpool at the last minutes against Chelsea.

Once the new deal is signed, Daniel Sturridge will get a pay rise in his current wages of £140,000 per week.

However, the report disclosed that the new contract terms will be structured on his appearances, as there are doubts over his long-term fitness.

Daniel Sturridge is a backup player for Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah but once the new contract is signed he will get some playing chances in the Uefa Champions League and FA Cup.
