Spanish striker Diego Costa has been asked to leave Stamford Bridge, and the club’s boss Antonio Conte insists there is no way back for the former Atletico Madrid forward at Chelsea.
Conte told the player at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at Chelsea for the upcoming campaign and that he is free to leave west London this summer transfer window.
However, despite that the transfer window will be closing soon, Costa is yet to find a new club he will play for in this fast-approaching campaign.
It is understood that the Spanish striker primarily desires a return back to his former Spanish club Atletico Madrid, but things are being complicated since the Madrid club are serving a transfer ban that has restricted them from bringing in new players until January transfer window.
Costa has also been strongly linked with Serie A heavyweights AC Milan, and the player himself has said earlier that he won’t mind playing in any league.
Chelsea have meanwhile landed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid to replace Diego, but the player is yet to find his feet in Conte’s squad, and it is believed that he may need time to be able to adapt adequately to the premier league.
And while it is thought that Costa would be brought back into the squad, the Italian manager remains adamant that won’t happen.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Juventus manager said:
‘What I think about him is the same. I think I was very clear in the past [and] I think [right] now, it is not important to repeat the same concept.’
