Conte Forced To Give Reasons For Transfer Decision, Is He Convincing Enough?

Chelsea have been constantly criticized for preferring big-name and huge-money transfers over promoting their own homegrown talents and youngsters. And the recent buying of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco whilst selling Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford appears to be a new case study.

And Chelsea current boss Antonio Conte has defended his Chelsea transfer policy after replacing the English youngster with the Frenchman.

Last term, Nathaniel played 15 matches for the premier league champions but couldn’t hold down a regular place in Antonio Conte’s squad before he made a £5m move to Watford this summer.

But the Italian boss is of the opinion that Tiemoue is a major upgrade to his squad, considering the player’s experience of winning major honours and competing in elites competitions such as the Champions League.

Apart from Chalobah, the west London club have also sold Nathan Ake to Bournemouth, and have loaned out Kurt Zouma to Stoke City, bringing in German defender Antonio Rudiger in the process with £34m.

After completing a £60M deal for Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, Michy Batshuayi, who was the supporting striker to Diego Costa last season, is also linked with a move away from the club. And despite having a talented homegrown striker in the person of Tammy Abraham who could have been the supporting striker to Morata this season, Chelsea intend splashing cash to bring in either Christan Benteke from Crystal Palace or Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, while pushing Abraham out on loan.
