France international N’Golo Kante went home with the prestigious Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year award last night.The Chelsea midfielder secured the most votes from his fellow players.
After being part of the Leicester team that won the premier League title last season in a surprising campaign, the Frenchman is on his way to winning this English top flight’s title this current campaign with his new club Chelsea.
His Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard, who won the prestigious award in 2015, was part of this season’s nominees following his impressive performances at Stamford Bridge this current campaign. Nevertheless, it was Kante who was preferred to the Belgian.
Tottenham forward Harry Kane was also nominated following his sparkling displays that helps put his side second placed to Chelsea on the premier league table.
Also is Manchester United striker and Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is currently the Man United player with the most goals this season so far.
N’Golo, speaking after receiving the award, expressed that to be chosen by the players to be player of the year means a lot to him, and that his manager Antonio Conte knows what he wants from his players.
Additionally, Spurs midfielder Dele Alli went home with the young player award for the second successive season.
