Arsenal have received massive boost in their pursuit for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette after the club president confirmed that the striker wants to leave.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a summer move with initial reports that La Liga side, Atletico Madrid was closing in on a deal for him before their transfer ban was upheld, giving Arsenal a free way to the signature of the striker.
Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger is believed to be a long-term admirer of Lacazette’s abilities and even failed in a £29million bid for him last summer.
The North Londoners have returned for his signature this summer and have made a significant bid for the forward as they plan to bring in replacements for the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud who have both been linked with moves away from the Emirates.
Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas who had earlier dismissed reports that Lacazette was leaving the club this summer, has now come out to give the Gunners a bit of hope by admitting that there have been offers for him and he wants to leave.
‘Alexandre should have left for Atletico [Madrid], but that could not be done, he wants to leave and we want to keep him, but the decision is not made and current offers have confirmed what he wishes,’ Aulas told AFP.
