Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has expressed his doubts over the ability of Brazilian international star Fabinho to perform consistently in the colours of the club.
Fabinho is in his first season at Anfield after joining Liverpool from French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco in a deal worth £40m during last summer’s transfer window.
Graeme Souness spoke to the Sunday Times about Fabinho as he said that he’s not convinced about the Brazilian utility player.
Fabinho is a versatile player that can play either as a right-back or as a central midfielder.
The majority of his playing minutes for the Reds have come in central midfield.
He started the season out of the starting XI and didn’t feature at all in the first eight Premier League games of this season.
Fabinho has since completed 90 minutes in eight of the last 13 Premier League games.
Liverpool boosted their midfield options last summer with the acquisitions of Fabinho and Guinean international star Naby Keita and it has paid dividends with both players contributing to the Reds’ ascent to the top of the table in the Premier League.
After 21 games, Liverpool are the pacesetters with 52 points recorded ahead of English champions Manchester City (48 points).
