According to reports from DH, Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier was a target for both Chelsea and Tottenham during the past summer transfer window, but the two English clubs failed with enquiries for him.
The news outlet indicates that Meunier was among the top targets for both Chelsea and Tottenham in the summer, but the French heavyweights refused to allow him leave.
Nevertheless, the two English clubs put their attentions elsewhere and where able to sign new full backs before the closure of the transfer window.
While Chelsea signed Davide Zappacosta from Torino few hours before the transfer window was slammed shut, the White Hart Lane club landed Serge Aurier also from Paris Saint-Germain.
During the window, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was keen on adding competition for both Marcos Alonso and Nigerian star Victor Moses in the wing-back positions. He however failed in his attempt to bring the likes of Alex Sandro and Antonio Candreva to Stamford Bridge with Juventus and Inter Milan clinging to their players.
It is understood that even though Meunier is happy with life in Paris, he is still open to a move to the English top flight.
Thomas joined the Paris club from Club Brugge and impressed greatly in his first season at the club. His current deal with PSG runs until 2020 and there are speculations that he will be handed a new improved deal soon.
