Tottenham Gives Chelsea Chance To Complete Star Player Signing

Ross Barkley

Everton star player Ross Barkley has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park for much of this summer, and it is understood that the player himself has his heart set on a move away from the club.

Though the playmaker had emerged as a target for top English clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man United, it is believed that Tottenham Hotspur are at the fore front in the race for the player.

In a new development however, there are reports that Spurs are not willing to meet the Toffees £40 Million valuation of the England international, therefore giving other top clubs like Chelsea the opportunity to secure his services.

The Englishman will be out of contract in 12 months and has indicated to Ronald Koeman’s side that he is determined for a new challenge. And last week, the club’s manager confirmed that the midfielder will 100% leave the club this summer.

Since Tottenham are yet to sign a single player this summer unlike other top domestic rivals, they are the ones expected to do all it takes to get Barkley’s signature following latest interest in him.

However, the Mirror reported that the club’s chairman Daniel Levy thinks the Goodison Park club are demanding too much for Ross, considering that he can leave the club for free next year. And so, they intend waiting until the end of the window when the Toffees will have no other choice but to lower their asking price for the player to avoid losing him for free when his contract eventually expires next summer.

Nevertheless, Tottenham could end up missing the player altogether, since the pause in the move could see other ‘rich’ clubs including Chelsea to swoop him this summer.
