West London giants Chelsea have confirmed that they will appeal the decision taken by FIFA to ban them from signing players for two transfer windows.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee had earlier stunned the Blues by slamming a two-window transfer ban on the former European champions for wrongdoing in relation to the signing of minors.

In a swift response to the ban announcement from FIFA, Chelsea refuted the findings of that committee before adding that they could be appealing the decision.

The Blues reacted to the ban via a club statement released on Thursday morning.

In addition to a transfer ban for two windows, Chelsea were also fined 600,000 Swiss Francs (£430,600).

Chelsea are not new to transfer bans from FIFA after they were banned for a similar offence in 2009 in relation to the transfer of Gael Kakuta who never made the grade as a Blues player.

The Stamford Bridge outfit also appealed the decision then.

Chelsea will have to do everything within their power to hang on to star player Eden Hazard with the latest development.

The 28-year-old has been attracting the interest of European champions Real Madrid.

Hazard is seen by the Los Merengues as a possible replacement for former talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who now a Juventus player.
