Chelsea In Three-Way Battle For Burnley Defender

English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea are reportedly interesting in Burnley’s highly rated defender Michael Keane with the January transfer window some few weeks away but will have to see off the interests of fellow EPL sides Leicester City and Everton according to news outlet The Mirror in what is a three-way battle for the 23-year old English centre-back.

Keane, who is a former Academy graduate at 20-time English champions Manchester United, is reaping rewards for series of impressive performances in the colours of Burnley’s claret and blue. This is highlighted by his debut invitation to the England national team setup by new manager Gareth Southgate in October as a replaced for injured Stoke City right back Glen Johnson though he didn’t make an appearance against Malta or Slovenia and will have to bid his time to make his debut for the Three Lions.

Some of his outstanding performances came against the big sides meaning he is a big game player. He performed well during the week 2 EPL clash with Liverpool to help his side to a 2-0 home win and was also influential in a 0-0 draw against hosts Manchester United.

Burnley and manager Sean Dyche would be hoping to hang onto their prized asset amidst all the previously mentioned interests from other English sides when the transfer window opens though a move next month is highly unlikely for Keane as his side battle to retain their league status.
