Something interesting is currently happening on the media. We learn that Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte is keen on securing the signature of Manchester United star player Jesse Lingard.
And it’s not just the current premier league table leaders alone that are interested in him – Arsenal too are. So, the London rivals will need to go head to head to try getting his signature in the fast approaching summer transfer window.
Let’s take a look at Chelsea’s team. Chelsea already have world class players in their attacking midfield. Nevertheless, it appears Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte is looking for more depth, considering his interest in the United star.
Come to think of it, Manchester United too have an overcrowded attack. Does this mean they might want to let go of the 24-year-old star? Well, I don’t think so though. Rumours already have it that the Old Trafford club want to keep Lingard and are going to hold talks with him over a new deal this week (we will talk about it once it’s out).
But I don’t think Jose Mourinho and the Manchester United management will want to sell Lingard just like that. This guy is the guy for the big games. If you can remember what happened in the FA Cup final last season, you should remember that he was the one who helped his side to win the cup by scoring the decisive goal in the game. And even in the EFL Cup Final last month when his side won Southampton, he was also on target
HOW GOOD IS JESSE LINGARD?
Well, this current season, he has only started 15 league games for Manchester United. Despite that, he has directly contributed in 7 goals. He is a versatile player that can play anywhere in the attacking third and what he simply needs is regular football to progress.
His contract at his Old Trafford club is meant to expire in 2018. He is currently rated around 21.3 million euros (which is $23million).
WHAT IF THE CHELSEA MOVE MATERIALISED?
If eventually he moves to Chelsea, he will most likely start behind Chelsea stars like Eden Hazard, Pedro Rodriguez, and Willian. So it might not be a great idea for him to leave to Chelsea. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is more likely to bring him into the pitch from the bench in most games.
