Maurizio Sarrri is in a cold war with his former employer in Napoli as the new Chelsea manager has shown interest in signing a player the Italian side also wants.
New report suggests that Serie A heavyweights Napoli are reportedly interested to reopen contract negotiations with Albanian star Elseid Hysaj after the right-back’s entourage confirmed that Chelsea are also interested in signing him over to London.
The player who had previously played under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli and fellow Serie A side Empoli is considered a January transfer target for the Blues.
The Albania international has lost his place in the starting 11 and now ranks behind Kevin Malcuit in the Stadio San Paolo pecking order, but club president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently suggested that a sale would not be considered.
Various Italian publications believe that De Laurentiis will now push ahead with plans to offer Hysaj a new long-term deal in an attempt to fend off the interest from Sarri’s Chelsea.
This season, in all competitions, Albania international Elseid Hysaj has made 13 appearances (11 in Serie A and 2 in Champions League) and provided 1 assist for the Naples-based outfit so far.
Napoli signed the hard-working defender from Empoli in the summer of 2015 for a reported €5 million fee.
