Former Valencia coach Gary Neville has stated that English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea showed a lot of traits usually associated with ‘potential’ champions after their impressive comeback win over hosts and title challengers Manchester City.
The league match at the Etihad stadium represented the first ever meeting between two of the best managers in world football namely Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea) however it was the latter who triumphed at the end of the day as his Chelsea team defeated Manchester City 3-1.
The home side scored first through a Gary Cahill own goal before three-second half goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard overturned the result in Chelsea’s favour.
Speaking during sky sports coverage of the game, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville praised Chelsea as he said”It’s far too early to crown champions but it’s the type of performance you see from champions.”
“It’s a big, big day for Conte and his team.” he added.
It would be a remarkable turnaround for Chelsea if they can go all the way after finishing 10th last season as holders. To this effect, they are on the right path with eight successive victories.
