Chelsea set to raid these two players to please Antonio Conte after losing out on Danilo

Ryan Bertrand

According to reports, Premier league Champions Chelsea are plotting a double raid on Southampton for their full-back Cedric Soares and former Chelsea player Ryan Bertrand

London Evening Standard reported that the Blues failure to sign Danilo and Benjamin Mendy – both players chose to join rivals Manchester City – have now seen the West London club shift their attention to the Saints to scour for quality players to strengthen the squad, with the Blues eyeing a move for full backs Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand.

The duo of Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand have proven to be a brilliant pair, with solid and consistent performances on either side of the defence. While Soares joined Southampton 12 months after Bertrand, both players have seen their value skyrocket after their arrival at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Despite missing some Premier League games through minor injuries last season, Soares played 30 League games last campaign and further added to his reputation as a reliable right-back.

Ryan Bertrand, on the other hand, continued from where he had left off the 2015-16 season and impressed everyone with his displays on the left side of the defence for Southampton as they made it to the EFL Cup final, only losing narrowly to Premier League giant Manchester United.

Chelsea have Spaniard Marcos Alonso and Nigerian Victor Moses as the only options on both left and right side of the wing-back positions respectively. And, Chelsea have been trying hard to add to their wing back options. However, the chase has failed to yield positive results.
