Premier League hero Alan Shearer is of the opinion that Chelsea star player N’Golo Kante will win the Player of the Year award.
Kante has been so instrumental for his Stamford Bridge club since his summer arrival from Leicester City.
And upon arriving Chelsea last summer, the French star instantly forced his way into Antonio Conte’s starting XI as he successfully edged former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas to the bench.
The France international helped his Chelsea side to extend their lead at the top of the premier league table with a nice performance in their 2-1 victory against West Ham last night.
And while it was the duo of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa that scored the goals for Conte’s side, pundit Shearer thinks Kante’s impact for Chelsea should see him win the award.
“If you needed any reminding of what Kante does for a team, look at the goal Hazard just scored!” Shearer tweeted
And when asked if Kante will get the Player of the Year award, Alan replied:
“Players player and Football Writers would be my guess!”
Conte Also Reacts To Kante’s Display In His Side’s 2-1 win at West Ham
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte hailed N’Golo Kante’s tireless performance in the blues 2-1 victory at West Ham United on Monday night.
The 25-year-old has been ever present in his Chelsea side this current campaign and the defensive midfielder started alongside former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas at the London Stadium.
Conte used the same line-up that saw his side eased to a 3-1 win against Swansea City last time out.
Kante was once again a key figure in the West Ham game as he played a key role in his side’s opening goal. And Conte speaking to the media after the win singled out Kante for special praise after his nice performance in the heart of his side.
“N’Golo Kante has great stamina. He covered a lot of the ground. He’s improving a lot,” Conte said.
