Chelsea Mulling Over Permanent Transfer For Real Madrid Loanee

Mateo Kovacic

West London giants Chelsea are considering the idea of turning the loan deal of midfielder Mateo Kovacic into a permanent transfer this summer.

This is according to the report from the stables of the London Evening Standard which claimed that senior Chelsea officials are having a second thought over a transfer for the Croatian World Cup star.

Mateo Kovacic became a Chelsea player last summer after joining from Real Madrid on a temporary deal.

The former Inter Milan player was part of the transfer that took Belgian national team shot stopper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid in a £35m deal at the start of the just concluded season.

Mateo Kovacic was poised to join Chelsea permanently this summer but the imminent exit of Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has changed that position with senior club officials now mulling a possible move for him.

Italian tactician Sarri is a big fan of Mateo Kovacic despite the fact that he didn’t win over the Chelsea fans due to the lack of result.

The Croatian international didn’t score at all in 51 games in all competitions for Chelsea during the just concluded campaign though he was able to provide two assists during that period.

The transfer ban hanging over Chelsea won’t affect a permanent transfer for Kovacic since his registration had previously been done.
