TRANSFER CRISIS ROCK CHELSEA.
Trouble is at the Blues as Chelsea could face a two-year transfer ban after allegedly signing U18 players illegally.
This news was broken by French publication Mediapart, who have been releasing some of the documents obtained by Football Leaks over the past few weeks reports that the Blues are been investigated by FIFA’s Integrity and Compliance unit for 14 signings.
The publication also claimed that the committee have suggested the Blues should be banned from bringing players to the club for one transfer window for signing Bertrand Traore before his 18th birthday back in 2014, along with an added three further transfer windows for 13 other offences committed.
Documents revealed by football leaks showed that Chelsea ‘acted in bad faith surrounding the real dates of the transfer’.
The Blues were also alleged to have also paid for Traore to attend Whitgift School in Surrey, the same school where Victor Moses and Callum Hudson-Odoi both attended.
Football rules state that clubs are not permitted to sign players under the age of 18 from other countries unless their parents have emigrated for reasons not connected to football or both the player and club are based within 50km of a national border.
Mediapart have alleged that Chelsea have broken these rules though documented evidence are yet to be confirmed as official, the claims could mean bad news for the Blues as Fifa’s Article 19 reads:
“The only other exception is for transfers within either the European Union or European Economic Area where the player is aged between 16 and 18.”
This means the team can be banned from signing players if found culpable during the summer transfer window.
