Marcos Alonso: This Chelsea Teammate Has Helped Me A Lot This Season

Chelsea summer signing Marcos Alonso reveals that his teammate Pedro Rodriguez helped him settle in to life at Stamford Bridge following his summer switch to the west London club.

Alonso joined Chelsea from Fiorentina last summer as one of Conte’s first signings as Chelsea new boss.

The Spanish fullback has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea first team this term and he has earned lots of praise for his displays for his side.

The defender has played an important role in helping Chelsea build an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and firmly establish themselves as the favourites to win the crown come May.

And Alonso has talked about how his compatriot has helped him to settle into life at the Stamford Bridge club.

Alonso speaking to Chelsea’s website said Pedro is a very good friend of his and he like to catch up with him (Pedro) after training.

“I didn’t know him before I came here but he’s been a great help since I arrived.

“We go for dinner quite regularly and we went to the NBA at the O2 together. I’m not a massive basketball fan but I follow some of the Spanish players.”

Alonso Reveals What Chelsea’s Players Have Been Doing Once A Month

Alonso also revealed that Chelsea’s players have been going out to dinner with each other once a month to help forge a bond between them all.

Former Juventus coach Antonio Conte has being outstanding this season so far and his men have been the Premier League’s standout team this term too and are also currently the heavy favourites to win the top-flight title this term.

Their dramatic upturn in form this current campaign has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term when they finished 10th on the table without a trophy.

Alonso has lifted the lid on how regular team-bonding meals have helped boost morale at his club.

“We have been going out for dinner once a month all together as a group, just enjoying each other’s company off the pitch as well.

“It’s been a great help and the atmosphere within the squad is amazing. You can see that when we are on the pitch.

“It is organised by the manager and the captain and it is good fun for everyone.” he said.

The blues are eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table and are currently gearing up for their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Wolves this weekend.
