Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has said he made a mistake allowing Serbia international Nemanja Matic moving from Stamford Bridge to Manchester United last summer transfer window ahead of his teams clash with United on Sunday.
Super Sunday clash
Ahead of the Old Trafford clash on Sunday, the Italian tactician has talked about having to watch the Serbian complete a switch from Chelsea to bitter rivals Man Utd last summer transfer window.
The Chelsea boss has said that Matic’s switch was rather unfortunate with the former Benfica man having played a major role in the Blues title winning campaign in the English Premier League last term.
Hole in the middle
The midfielder was key for the Blues last term and Chelsea have struggled to perfectly replace him. France international midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko was originally bought from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco to replace the Serbian alongside France international N’golo Kante in the middle of Chelsea’s midfield. However, the black skinned midfielder has struggled to replicate the Serbian’s form from the last season and the Blues have often had to make do with Spain international Cesc Fabregas to play in the holding role alongside former Leicester man Kante.
Matic played 35 matches of the Blues 38 English Premier League matches last term and was only involved in five defeats.
