Virgil Van Dijk’s future at Southampton is still uncertain and there have been lots of speculations surrounding him this summer.
And in a new development, there are reports that Chelsea transfer boss Michael Emenalo is confident of securing a deal for the Dutchman before the summer window closes.
The player handed in a formal transfer request last week after the Saints reiterated their stance that they won’t be cashing out on him this summer.
Earlier in the transfer window, the defender appeared set to move to Anfield, but the deal was abandoned after Southampton threatened to report Liverpool to the FA for approaching Van Dijk illegally.
And even though Liverpool have issued an apology to Southampton, there are indications that the Saints still have something against the reds and that they will prefer selling him to Chelsea instead of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
And the Daily Mirror are now reporting that the premier league champions are preparing to table an official offer that will go beyond £50million for the center-back.
It is understood that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on bringing in more legs to his team before the end of this summer transfer window as he wasn’t too pleased with the way things turned out in regards to the club’s transfer activities this summer.
He has also been handed a boost in his attempt of bringing Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into Stamford Bridge following reports that the gunners French boss Arsene Wenger is now considering a sale.
