Chelsea make Shock move for Fernando Llorente with Batshuayi leaving on loan

Fernando Llorente

According to the Independent, Premier League Champions Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Swansea and Spain international striker Fernando Llorente.

The Blues, tutored by Italian Antonio Conte, who completed the club transfer-record £60m signing of hitman Alvaro Morata from European and La Liga Champions Real Madrid on Friday, have been linked with signing the Swansea City forward as a backup option to Morata ahead of the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Swansea are according to the Independent, requesting for around £30m for the former Juventus and Sevilla forward, with the Blues not willing to pay that much for a striker of his age.

The 32-year-old forward, who has played 24 international matches for Spain, netted 15 goals and made one assist in 33 top-flight matches for The Swans last campaign.

Llorente, who arrived at the Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2016 following his transfer from Sevilla, is wanted by Antonio Conte this summer transfer window, with fellow striker Michy Batshuayi expected to leave the club on loan.

Llorente worked with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, and importantly with Spaniard Morata during the trio’s time at Seria A club Juventus, and he could give the perfect foil for Chelsea’s new big-money signing.

Llorente, who has also played for top clubs like Athletic Bilbao and Juventus, was part of the Spanish team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and 2012 European Championships.
