Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly reached a final decision on the status of midfielder Mateo Kovacic at the club.
The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long deal from Champions League holders Real Madrid.
According to a report from popular English news outlet Daily Star, Chelsea have made a decision on the Croatian international star.
Mateo Kovacic joined the Blues in the summer on a temporary deal from the European champions after his World Cup exertions.
He was part of the Croatian team that surprised the entire footballing world by reaching the final of this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
Kovacic and Croatia ended up as losing finalists after they were beaten 4-2 by eventual winners France.
Since his move to Chelsea, Mateo Kovacic has featured heavily in the Blues’ starting XI.
He has made 12 appearances for his new club in all competitions.
The previously mentioned report stated that Chelsea have no intentions of turning his loan deal into a permanent one and that there was no such agreement in the loan terms agreed between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
It was also pointed out that Chelsea will have to start negotiations again if the Blues want to make the loan deal permanent.
