Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has had his say on the Blues summer window and how he was frustrated at how the West London club failed to sign a number of his transfer targets and perhaps some football fans now know why.
As per the London Evening Standard, two of their transfer targets rejected the opportunity to join the club because they feared that Antonio Conte would be gone by next campaign.
In the Italian’s 18-month in charge as Chelsea tactician, there have been several times where the football media have reported that his role at the club was under severe threat, but the tactician, who has a strong rapport with the supporters following his superb first season at Stamford Bridge, remains in charge at least for now.
Chelsea currently sits 14 points behind Manchester City and there has been talks of a return to Italy in the near future for Conte and those speculations intensified when the former Juventus boss signed a new contract with Chelsea that only improved his contract terms and did not extend his stay beyond it’s present 2019 expiry.
As for the two Chelsea targets that snubbed the club in the summer, they are still undisclosed but one can easily speculate that Everton forward Ross Barkley could be one of the two players considering his sudden change of mind on deadline day regarding a move to Chelsea.
