Chelsea have had a £68 million bid rejected by Everton for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
The Belgian striker has been linked with a return to the Stamford Bridge, with suggestions that he wants Champions League football next season and the club’s hierarchy are keen on signing Lukaku this season.
Reports in Sport Witness claim that Blues owner Roman Abramovich personally sent in a bid of around £68 million including bonuses for the 23-year-old but was swiftly rejected by Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, leaving the Belgian unhappy with the decision.
Chelsea are expected to return with another bid as they are believed to be keen to sign Lukaku ahead of Manchester United, who will also try to tempt him to the Old Trafford during the next summer transfer window.
Although, it is understood that Antonio Conte prefers Real Madrid Alvaro Morata to the Belgian forward but technical director Michael Emenalo is said to be keen on seeing him return to the Stamford Bridge.
Prior reports also suggests that Everton will remain adamant on their £100million valuation of the striker due to his impressive form this season.
Romelu Lukaku has been a standout figure at the Goodison Park this season, scoring 24 goals so far this season, leading the goalscoring charts in the Premier League.
